How Dayprints Works: A Calm Daily Productivity Loop

Dayprints is a mobile-friendly daily productivity dashboard for individuals. It brings tasks, one-day planning, habits, reminders, and visible progress into a simple loop:

Plan → Do → Celebrate → Track → Return.

The product is designed around today rather than a workspace you have to configure. Add a task with only a title, choose what belongs today, and see one sensible next action. A short review closes loose ends and prepares tomorrow.

Here is what each part of the loop does.

For the method behind the product, see the complete guide to calm daily planning. This walkthrough shows how Dayprints turns those decisions into one repeatable flow.

Plan: make a deliberate Today list

Dayprints opens on Today: the current commitment, not everything you might do.

You can add a task with a title and stop there. Optional fields let you set:

  • priority;
  • a due date;
  • a planned day;
  • a scheduled start;
  • an estimate;
  • notes; and
  • a reminder.

Due date is the deadline; planned day is when you intend to work. A Friday task can belong on Wednesday's Today list.

Choose a Top 3 to give the day a centre while the rest remains visible. Start with three to five credible tasks rather than filling every open hour.

Plan places tasks in the morning, afternoon, evening, or at a chosen start time. It shapes today without claiming to be a full calendar.

Repeat supports Daily and Days of week on Free; the seven-day picker includes Saturday and Sunday. Plus adds intervals, monthly dates, and completion-relative schedules. Saved routines are reusable task sets applied manually: up to three on Free and 25 on Plus.

Plus Planning Intelligence explains suggestions, shows each proposed change, and rechecks it before writing. It is deterministic, not generative AI, and never silently rearranges the day.

Do: keep one next action clear

Up next selects one incomplete task and explains why, using due state, priority, scheduled start, estimate, and age.

You can mark it done, or snooze it to move another candidate ahead—for an hour, until this evening, until tomorrow morning, or until a time you pick. Snoozing never changes the task's reminder. A snooze that lands later today keeps the task in today's plan; one that reaches tomorrow moves it to that day instead of leaving it sitting in a day you have finished with. Move to Tasks covers the other case: the task should not be on Today at all. It leaves the day and waits in Tasks, still active and undeleted, until you plan it again.

Today keeps Top 3 first, with the remaining plan below. Completed counts and beads make progress visible.

Open Sessions to start a task-linked session from 1 minute up to 4 hours on any plan; the default is 25 minutes. Plus adds saved presets, unlinked sessions and richer insights. Session time earns no Momentum and finishing a session never completes the linked task automatically.

The completion-alert checkbox is on by default when you start a Session. It uses Web Push and asks for permission only when starting the Session needs to add the device. Delivery is best-effort. Ending a Session early cancels its alert, but an alert already due when the Session ends may still be sent.

Older work that still needs a decision appears under Needs attention. Choose Tomorrow, Pick date, or Archive for each item. Tomorrow or a future picked date removes it from today’s blockers; picking today keeps it in today’s incomplete plan, and Archive succeeds only while archive capacity remains.

Celebrate: let completion feel complete

Completion updates the row, count, and bead without a disruptive modal; Undo remains briefly available.

A qualifying completed plan needs every planned task complete, at least one task you had planned — for any date, not only today — completed today, and no unresolved Needs attention item. Habits never block that state.

A qualifying day reveals a Dayprint from a shared, authored catalogue and stores it with the day's tier. Progress shows up to thirty of the most recent Dayprints with available artwork. Different people can receive the same image; the unrepeatable part is the qualifying occasion.

Dayprint vocabulary grows from Seed through Bloom, Current, Radiance, and Masterwork without turning every checkbox into a spectacle.

Animated is the base default. When no explicit choice has been saved, an operating-system reduced-motion preference starts Dayprints in Still. Still applies every state immediately without animation; sound has separate opt-in controls.

Track: see progress without an opaque score

Progress shows completed tasks, Rhythm, habit consistency, carryover, and total Momentum.

Normal tasks add 3 Momentum, priority tasks 5, and habits 2. Resolving the plan can add 8; a meaningful review adds 3. A daily cap limits farming, and creating or editing tasks earns nothing.

Momentum is cumulative. Undo returns the relevant award, but the highest tier reached never moves backwards.

Momentum tiers do not gate appearance. All nine palettes, plus System appearance mode, are currently available on Free and Plus, along with dark mode and accessibility settings.

Rhythm reflects consecutive local days with a completed task or any recorded habit progress. A pause uses calm restart language rather than erasing history. See streaks vs momentum.

Free currently includes stored all-time Progress data, Dayprints, and JSON/CSV export. Plus adds capacity, Planning Intelligence, saved Session presets, unlinked Sessions, and access to reflections older than Free’s 90-day window.

Free Progress shows rolling seven-day task-completion bars, habit consistency, Rhythm length, and one rule-based gentle suggestion. Dayprints does not currently provide a dedicated Weekly Review workflow.

Return: close today and make tomorrow easier

The end-of-day review is preparation, not a required journal. It summarizes completed work, routes today's unfinished tasks and earlier tasks under Needs attention to Tomorrow, Later, or Archive, and can choose tomorrow's priority.

Optional gratitude, self-appreciation, and capacity prompts can be skipped. Review never blocks celebration or Dayprint.

This reduces tomorrow's startup cost. For the standalone practice, use the five-minute daily review.

Habits stay light

Habits appear on Today and as consistency dots in Progress. Optional target days keep a three-times-a-week habit from becoming a failed daily promise.

Habits add Momentum and can keep Rhythm, but never block the planned day.

Free supports 3 active habits; Plus supports 25. These are limits, not targets.

Reminders support timing, not pressure

Set a reminder at the scheduled start, ten minutes before, one hour before, or another time. The reminder remains visible in the app.

Free supports up to 5 reminders waiting to fire at once; Plus supports 100 at once. Pending, processing, and retry-scheduled deliveries count; delivered, failed, and cancelled ones stop counting. Each task can have one active reminder. Delivery is around the chosen time, not an exact guaranteed second.

Task reminders stay attached to individual task occurrences, and saved timing can carry forward when a task repeats. A separate opt-in end-of-day review reminder uses Web Push. Location triggers are not included.

Best-effort Web Push works on up to two registered devices on Free or five on Plus. Permission follows Add this device; iPhone and iPad require iOS/iPadOS 16.4+ and the Home Screen app.

Dayprints works as an installable web app

The product stays intentionally bounded. It does not include a generative AI planner, full calendar system, location automation, projects, or collaboration. Sessions and Planning remain task-oriented, explainable, and under the user's control.

That boundary keeps the daily plan understandable.

What is free and what Plus changes

Free includes the complete daily loop, task-linked Sessions with a choice of duration, simple recurrence, up to three saved routines, up to three active habits, up to five reminders waiting to fire at once, Web Push on up to two registered devices, all-time basic progress, retained Dayprints, and export. Plus increases capacity and adds saved Session presets, Planning Intelligence, advanced recurrence, up to 25 saved routines, and Web Push on up to five registered devices.

A downgrade retains existing records. Free shows the latest 90 days of reflections, while all-time Progress and Dayprints stay visible. Items above a Free limit remain available; new creation is subject to Free limits. Account export remains available for 37 datasets, including saved routines and their application history, plus quick-add templates.

Start with one real day

Dayprints does not require a taxonomy, template library, or lengthy setup. A useful first day can contain two or three real tasks, one clear priority, and a reminder only where timing matters. Complete the work, review what remains, and let the next day begin from better information.

Start a simpler daily loop

Start free with Dayprints: shape one honest Today list, act on the clearest next task and close the day with better information. It is a simple route from deciding what matters to following through and seeing Momentum build—without configuring a complicated productivity system first.
