Create your first Today list
Your Today list is a commitment for one day, not a copy of everything you might do.
Start with capacity
Ask how much usable time and energy the day contains. Meetings, travel, care work, and recovery all reduce capacity.
Start with three to five planned tasks, or fewer on a constrained day. Estimates can help you check whether the total fits.
Choose a balanced Top 3
Choose up to three tasks that would make the day feel meaningfully complete:
- one important outcome;
- one time-sensitive commitment; and
- one smaller task that creates movement.
Priority reflects importance. Due records a deadline. Plan decides when you intend to work on the task.
Dayprints fills Your Top 3 from the order of today's plan. To keep one task first, select it on Today, then choose Up next in Task actions. Due dates and priority order the remaining tasks automatically.
Add the tasks to Today
Use the + button on mobile, or Add task on a wide screen, to add and prioritise each task, then choose Today under Plan. Add a scheduled start or estimate only when it helps. Up next surfaces one sensible action from your incomplete Today tasks.
If the day changes, adjust the list. Removing an unfinished task from Today is honest replanning. In the end-of-day review, send unfinished work to tomorrow, later, or the archive.
Read the Schedule strip
Anything you give a scheduled time appears in Schedule on Today, in time order. Each row says where it stands:
- Upcoming — still ahead of you.
- Earlier — its time has passed and it is not finished yet. This is a statement, not a warning.
- Completed — done.
Rows stay on the strip as the day moves on, so the list does not shrink underneath you.
Times outside the named parts of the day
Plan groups your day into Morning, Afternoon and Evening, which together cover 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. You can schedule a task at any time — a 7:00 AM run or a 10:00 PM call is fine. Those appear in Earlier above Morning, or Later below Evening, and only when you have something there.
If you prefer to compare this loose structure with a full visual timeline, Dayprints and Structured take those two approaches.
Put this into practice with Dayprints. Plan what matters today and collect a dated artwork for each day you finish.
